Blitz, Brawl, Blaze! That’s the promise behind Mecha BREAK, the metal new title from game studio Amazing Seasun that puts you in the driving seat of the mech of your dreams. In this highly anticipated multiplayer third-person shooter, you pilot one of 15 exoskeletal killing machines through a decaying, post-apocalyptic landscape and find your destiny as a savior of humankind. Amazing Seasun dispatched their mecha-wrangling representative Jinshou Huang (also responsible for performance optimization and engine feature development) to give Intel Gaming Access an update on the upcoming automaton action.
Amazing Seasun was one of China’s first gaming companies and now has a presence in Zhuhai, Chengdu, Beijing, and Shanghai, as well as Irvine in the US. So what drew them to the manga-influenced world of mechs? The team was “driven by a passion for mechs,” Huang tells us, but the ultimate aim is to “create a game loved by players worldwide.” That passion and inclusivity fuels their approach. “We’ve fused diverse artistic styles and cultural elements into the game’s world, designing unique mechs like the fortress-like Tricera, and the sleek Falcon. Collaborating with renowned Japanese designers while adding our own flair, we’ve crafted a distinct mech aesthetic.”
The team’s commitment to all things mech doesn’t leave behind those new to the mastering of monster-sized metal. “Mecha BREAK is a shooting game built for mech and sci-fi enthusiasts,” Huang says, but the target audience also includes “players who enjoy team-based tactical shooters, competitive gamers who enjoy various game modes, and co-op and tactical extraction enthusiasts.” Like we said, inclusive. “When it comes to combat, we’ve broken through traditional boundaries by offering dynamic battles that span both air and ground,” Huang explains. “Every mech in the game has flight capabilities, a standout feature that, combined with exciting gameplay, delivers a complete, rich, and deeply immersive mech experience.”
That innovation is found not only in the 15 playable mechs but in what each mech can do once the player becomes the brains of the operation. “In Mecha BREAK, players will enjoy a mech shooter that’s easy to pick up yet packed,” Huang says. “Combining hero-based shooter mechanics with unique character abilities and team collaboration, the game features a variety of battle modes, including 3v3, 6v6, and PvPvE.”
Huang breaks down the mecha modes as follows: “3v3 is a small-scale, competitive mode that focuses on fair play and teamwork. Maps have no fixed objectives, so victory depends on coordination and strategy. In 6v6, each map comes with specific objectives. Players will work together to achieve team goals and win using strategy and collaboration. PvPvE is a mode where players face off against massive bosses while earning progression points.” Each mech plays what Huang defines as a “vital and distinctive role”, no matter the mode, and each mode “highlights the importance of team strategy and synergy between different mechs,” Huang adds. “Additionally, the PvP combat in Mecha BREAK offers an experience unlike traditional PvP games, delivering an unmatched sense of speed, power, and firepower. It’s designed to provide players with a fresh and thrilling battle experience.”
Epic in the air and gangbusters on the ground, the mechs are relentless in terms of action and adaptability. They can’t jolt like an old jalopy, in other words. “As a next-gen sci-fi mech action shooter, Mecha BREAK requires both cutting-edge visuals and high frame-rates to ensure smooth animations and responsive gameplay,” Huang affirms. “High performance is critical for delivering fluid controls and fast reaction times, particularly for precision combat that relies on accurate aiming. Powerful PCs also enhance input responsiveness, ensuring mouse and keyboard commands feel instant and precise―an essential feature for a shooter of this caliber.”
Intel was there to offer support to keep the wheels turning. “For the best experience,” Huang says, “PC players can take advantage of 4K monitors and Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 Processor 285K to maximize both visuals and performance, fully unleashing the appeal of Mecha BREAK. During development, we collaborated with Intel to integrate their Intel® Xe Super Sampling (XeSS) technology into the game. Like Fidelity Super Resolution (FSR), XeSS is cross-platform, but on hardware equipped with AI accelerators (such as Intel® Arc™ GPUs), it can deliver better performance and visual quality. We are currently working on integrating both XeSS and XeFG into the game to further enhance visuals and overall performance.”
