For someone playing modern titles at 1080p or 1440p, the A700-family is a <a href=\"http:\/\/ec2-35-175-63-217.compute-1.amazonaws.com\/story\/intel-arc-graphics-a7series-perf-per-dollar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">great value<\/a> and includes the hallmark features of a modern GPU like dedicated hardware ray tracing units and X<sup>e<\/sup>SS AI-enhanced super sampling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have been transparent about gaming performance for Intel graphics on modern and legacy APIs, and we knew that our DX9 experience needed more attention. Starting with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intel.com\/content\/www\/us\/en\/download\/729157\/intel-arc-graphics-windows-dch-driver-beta.html?__hstc=23235429.b709ac3edf758004490386fddfc9f285.1704489439639.1704489439639.1704738374017.2&amp;__hssc=23235429.12.1704738374017&amp;__hsfp=2480001489\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">our latest driver release<\/a>, we are beginning to roll out substantial improvements for these popular and important titles!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Intel Arc Graphics | DirectX 9 Performance Update\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/omUTYlm2Al0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I want to jump straight to data. Improving performance is what this is all about anyway! We\u2019ve tested the Intel Arc A770 graphics card in six of the most popular DirectX 9 games, comparing our October release driver (version v3490) with today\u2019s first DX9-overhauling driver (v3959 and later). The new driver gives most games here a significant boost in performance, especially Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and League of Legends*.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" data-id=\"2831\" src=\"https:\/\/game.intel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/x9-driver-update-perf-04-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2831\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" data-id=\"2832\" src=\"https:\/\/game.intel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/x9-driver-update-perf-03-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2832\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" data-id=\"2833\" src=\"https:\/\/game.intel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/x9-driver-update-perf-02-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2833\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" data-id=\"2834\" src=\"https:\/\/game.intel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/x9-driver-update-perf-01-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2834\"><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Noteworthy is that while average frame rate increases are awesome, the improvement in overall experience and smoothness is even better. If you look at the 99th percentile FPS, you\u2019ll see that our relative improvement is over 2x in CS:GO and I can tell you from first hand playing experience that gamers will notice the difference immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I might not have the skills to headshot TAP, but CS:GO has been a big target for us \u2013 not just because it\u2019s the most-played game on Steam, but because so many eSports fans at <a href=\"http:\/\/ec2-35-175-63-217.compute-1.amazonaws.com\/story\/intel-arc-graphics-iem-cologne\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Intel Extreme Masters<\/a> ask about Counter-Strike performance on Intel Arc too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today\u2019s driver release brings a new DX9 implementation to Intel Arc graphics products, including the A770, A750, A380 and our family of mobile Arc GPUs. We use a hybrid approach, i.e., a combination of API techniques, to take advantage of translation layers when a better experience can be delivered using one of our more modern API implementations. These improvements will be delivered transparently to the end user through our normal driver distribution process. The details of this implementation may change over time as our DX9 driver evolves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Less than two months since launch, we are providing up to 1.8x better performance in select DX9 titles! As we improve performance, we\u2019re also improving the value you get with Intel Arc graphics. We launched with competitive <a href=\"http:\/\/ec2-35-175-63-217.compute-1.amazonaws.com\/story\/intel-arc-graphics-a7series-perf-per-dollar\/\">performance-per-dollar against the RTX 3060<\/a> in DX12 and Vulkan, now we\u2019re expanding that storyline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We won\u2019t be stopping here; we still have more work to do!
