Montreal-based game developer Behaviour Interactive Inc. has been on a tear lately, coinciding with the 8th anniversary of their smash hit, the multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight. The team recently dropped a new video to celebrate their franchise’s birthday and catch fans up on all fronts, and it’s worth taking a deeper dive into the key news they touched on.
2v8 Game Mode
The team announced completion of the highly-requested 2v8 Game Mode, and shared early details. In this mode, two Killers will square off against eight Survivors on a larger map for a completely new experience.
What the Fog
The broadcast featured a surprise announcement —and release— of What the Fog, a brand-new two-player co-op rogue-lite from the world of Dead by Daylight. As the trailer explains, the main characters have been sucked into a cursed board game, Jumanji-style. What the Fog is now available for free by signing into or creating a Behaviour Account here. Year 9 Roadmap
Head of Production Stefan Beauchamp gave a brief overview of what players can expect from the next year—including six new Chapters, four Tomes, exciting events, and of course, space for a few twists and turns along the way.
Gameplay Improvements
The team has introduced a new system of daily, weekly, and event challenges for players to complete and unlock a treasure trove of rewards.
New Chapter Reveal: Dungeons and Dragons
Dungeons and Dragons (DoD) comes to the world of Dead by Daylight thanks to a collaboration with Wizards of the Coast. Vecna, known in-game as The Lich, will be the game’s next Killer. Vecna is joined by a pair of Elven bards, one male and one female, who will serve as the new Survivors.

In Early Development: Project T

The Casting of Frank Stone
Created in conjunction with Supermassive Games, The Casting of Frank Stone offers a heart-pounding narrative set in the Dead by Daylight universe —a gruesome mystery where every decision matters, shaping the story and its outcome.

8th Anniversary In-Game Celebrations
The team also announced a new Twisted Masquerade anniversary event. Always a favorite, this year it’s packed with new unlockable cosmetics, event-themed gameplay, decor, and much more.
Final Surprise: Castlevania
With the Anniversary broadcast about to end, our hosts couldn’t leave without one final surprise reveal. In a mic-drop moment, Game Director Mathieu Coté unveiled a teaser trailer announcing that the legendary Castlevania franchise would be sinking its teeth into Dead by Daylight later this summer.
