At Intel Gaming Access, we love changing it up, and here’s the ultimate change-it-up, with actual costume changes. The fifth instalment in the Nikki series, Infinity Nikki is a free-to-play open-world exploration with awesome outfits that are about more than simply style. Dress up to win extra abilities, solve puzzles, and just generally make the game world more creative and fun. Developers Infold Games glided over in their new clothes to tell Intel Gaming Access about Infinity Nikki, and their new update—Itzaland—coming soon.
The Infold Games team is an international brand under Paper Games, headquartered in Shanghai, with teams in Singapore, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and other global hubs. Their mission is to “create a life beyond amazing”, which they fulfill with games that inspire creativity, emotional connection, and a sense of wonder, like Infinity Nikki. Infold describe the game as “an open-world, dress-up adventure set in the fantasy realm of Miraland. Players explore vast landscapes, solve light puzzles, collect outfits, and express their creativity through style and discovery. Side by side with Momo [the quick-witted talking cat], Nikki will harness her Whim [power] and don magical Ability Outfits to explore a beautiful world—where wonder and surprise unfold at every turn.” Ability Outfits, for those yet to don one, are a category of clothing included in Nikki’s vast wardrobe that come with special skills attached, including everything from archery to animal grooming.

Il Nikki series has achieved longevity—and 20-million global downloads—through staying true to its core beliefs while innovating and evolving, and giving players that opportunity, too. “Infinity Nikki was inspired by a belief in freedom, beauty, and the creativity of self-expression,” Infold tells us. “We wanted to build an open world where players aren’t just completing quests—they’re exploring, discovering, and defining their own style. What sets the game apart is its fusion of genres: it’s a dress-up game at heart, but built on an open-world framework powered by Unreal Engine 5. This allows for highly detailed environments, dynamic lighting, and a deep outfit system that’s both visually stunning and emotionally resonant. It’s not just about what you wear—it’s about how you see the world.”
That emotional resonance and sense of discovery has kept players in thrall since the first instalment. Infold Games describes their audience as “anyone who loves beauty, exploration, and RPG gameplay—especially players looking for an emotionally uplifting and visually rich experience. Whether you enjoy fashion or open-world immersion, Infinity Nikki offers a space to play freely and dream big.”
Dreaming big is what gamers do, after all—so how exactly can players ‘see the world’ of Miraland? To begin with, exploration-driven gameplay. You can wander, float, or glide through diverse regions of this bright, whimsical land—each with its own visual identity and secrets. Then, deep customization. “Collect and mix hundreds of outfits,” the Infold team suggests., “Every outfit comes with its own special abilities, enabling players with brand new exploration and interaction with the world.. Also, the outfit design goes beyond aesthetics. Each piece tells a story—for example, a mermaid gown might use specific materials and details to convey themes of loneliness or elegance. It’s fashion as narrative.”

“Music, lighting, and environmental storytelling come together to create a truly atmospheric experience,” Infold explains. “It’s a game that encourages curiosity and rewards creativity.” Miraland’s magic radiates outwards, as well. The theme song is by renowned recording artist Jessie J, and fans of hers have discovered the game through a love of her music. “Music is woven deeply into the game’s identity,” Infold affirms. “Infinity Nikki features over 15 hours of original music—including live-recorded orchestral performances—with dynamic systems that change based on player actions. The score doesn’t just set the mood—it reacts to you..”
With creativity at the fore, and the ever-adaptable outfits spurring change and discovery, the development of this title must have presented some challenges? “One major challenge,” Infold agrees, “was building a cross-platform open world in Unreal Engine 5 that maintained visual fidelity across devices—especially with a highly detailed outfit system. We tackled this through close collaboration between art and engineering, developing custom solutions for material rendering, wind simulation, and scalable environment detail. Another challenge was designing a non-violent core loop that still felt engaging and expansive. We leaned into exploration, emotional discovery, and player agency—making style and creativity the real ‘progression’. It was a creative risk that ultimately defined the game.”

With high-fidelity visuals, real-time lighting, and expansive draw distances, it’s a game that requires power. Infold recommends a dedicated GPU with strong VRAM, and a high-res display that captures the subtle artistic details that make the world feel alive. Well, you know where to come for that—here at Intel Gaming Access we’re all about putting cutting-edge technology at the service of exploration and creativity.
