Intel® Arc™ Q&A: How to think about Intel Arc graphics with DirectX 12, Vulkan, and older APIs? We’ve got answers!

by 인텔 게이밍 |

You’ve been super vocal about Intel Arc questions, especially on why games on DirectX 12 and Vulkan are going to perform better than older games on our cards at launch. Ryan Shrout and TAP break down the difference between legacy APIs versus newer APIs – check out the video for their answers:

We have shown off a preview of optimized DirectX 12 games running on the Intel® Arc™ A750 and performance is great, outrunning an Nvidia RTX 3060 on those titles. However, those are some games that work best on Arc GPUs currently. DX12 and Vulkan are modern “low-level APIs,” with closer communication between the game and the GPU. DX11, DX9, and other legacy APIs require less developer resource management which means we’ve got more work to do in drivers. We still have work to do to improve performance across the broad set of PC titles, but Ryan and TAP will have more to share about performance in the next week or two.

The Intel Arc software team is hard at work refining our drivers ahead of and well beyond our global launch. With Game On Drivers auto-installed by Arc Control, you’ll always have the latest updates for modern DX12 games and your favorite DX9 throwbacks.
