The arrival of a new family of 11th Gen Intel® Core™ Tiger Lake processors with Iris Xe integrated graphics has empowered several developers to push the limits of what was previously possible in laptop gaming.

One of the features enabled by this new line of processors is variable rate shading (VRS), a technology that helps manage the amount of processing power dedicated to rendering in-game graphics. Essentially, VRS allows developers to devote more detail and realism to the most important elements seen on-screen while cutting back on the processing power that would be required to render less important elements at a similar quality.

The same was true for Codemaster&#39;s, the studio behind 2019&#39;s Grid. &quot;By incorporating VRS into Grid at Codemasters, we&#39;ve found new ways to support gamers around the world to experience higher FPS without sacrificing visual fidelity,&quot; Codemasters Dev Director Mark Green said. Intel also worked with Tripwire, the studio behind Chivalry II, to optimize the game and implement VRS support.

Krafton&#39;s PlayerUnknown&#39;s Battlegrounds also receives a boost across multiple platforms. &quot;The performance of PlayerUnknown&#39;s Battlegrounds on 11th Gen Intel® Core™ processors with Iris Xe Graphics is particularly impressive considering that it&#39;s achieved while maintaining low power consumption in thin-and-light platforms,&quot; Krafton CTO Lee ChangHo said.
In some cases, Intel&#39;s Tiger Lake processors support playing games at over 60 FPS and at resolutions as high as 1080p. Ori and the Will of the Wisps Senior Producer James York said that they&#39;re &quot;excited to play Ori and the Will of the Wisps at over 60 FPS at 1080p while on the go.&quot;
Halo 3 Director of Technology Greg Hermann also noted that the Halo 3 can run at 1080p and 60+ FPS on ultra-thin and -light laptops. &quot;We&#39;re thrilled to see Halo 3 reborn for Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC,&quot; Hermann said.

Overall, 11th Gen Intel® Core™ processors have helped numerous titles experience a boost in performance across lower-power platforms. &quot;Efficient laptops and PCs that can deliver reliable, 1080p performance in Unreal Engine games like Fortnite are now within reach of tens of millions of creators and players worldwide,&quot; Epic Games VP of Engineering Nick Penwarden said.
