A Gaming Milestone: IEM Dallas Marks 100th Tournament

by Intel Gaming |

Get ready for the 100th Intel® Extreme Masters (IEM) event, taking place as part of the DreamHack festival experience in Dallas, Texas from May 31–June 2. Organized by the Electronic Sports League (ESL), IEM is the longest running global pro gaming tour in the world. The prestigious competition brings the world’s best teams to Dallas’ Kay Bailey Convention Center, and, to mark this 100th event, Intel’s spacious booths will feature extra give-aways, sweepstakes, and the formidable presence of Acer’s Predator laptop gaming system

IEM is widely considered one of the most prestigious gaming events in the world. It is estimated that, over the years, USD$20 million in prize money has been dispersed for Counter-Strike contestants alone. The significant milestone of 100 events is proof of the continued commitment Intel has to the esports community.  Over the years, IEM has featured top global teams playing a variety of popular games—Warcraft, Starcraft, League of Legends, and more. For 2024, the tournament showcases Counter-Strike, with teams fresh off a thrilling finish at Chengdu, China, where the FaZe clan out-battled MOUZ for USD$100,000 of the USD$250,000 prize pool. At the end of the season, 20 qualifying top teams will battle at Cologne, Germany for the USD$1 million ultimate reward.

In addition to the IEM tournament action, Dallas 2024 will draw an impressive range of vendors and affiliated gatherings. One primary sponsor is Acer Predator, hailed for producing the next generation of gaming laptops in the form of the Acer Predator Helios 300. Players looking for lightning-fast, performance-enhanced gaming bliss should check out this system. Named for Helios, the sun god in Greek mythology, the Predator Helios 300 reaches up to 165Hz/3ms refresh and response rates. The Helios 300 PH315-54-760S boasts an Intel® Core™ i7 -11800H CPU, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, a fast SSD drive, and more.

IEM Dallas 2024 runs alongside DreamHack Dallas, a three-day event where “gamers from all multiverses and backgrounds connect for a weekend of esports, cosplay, creator-led activities, table tops, special guests, panels, workshops, the coolest IRL loot stores…” You get the picture. And one ticket gets you into both gatherings.

At IEM Dallas—the obvious center of the gaming universe at the end of May—you can gather in the Lone Star State in person, or follow along online. If you’re there in person, hit the Intel booth early and often to take advantage of the technology updates and guidance, enter to win prizes, or talk with experts about your own gaming computer needs.
