Capable gaming on the go with the Lenovo LOQ 15IAX9I

by Zachary Hill |

The hybrid architecture of Intel® Core™ CPUs and unbeatable value of Intel® Arc™ graphics are all about putting power where it matters most, and the Lenovo LOQ 15IAX9I laptop does just that. Modern features for gaming performance without breaking the bank are here with a 12th Gen Intel Core processor and an Intel Arc A530M GPU, made even better with a game bundle.

Join the game with capable hardware

Great gaming experiences start with capable hardware, and the Lenovo LOQ 15IAX9I puts the right stuff in your hands at an unbeatable value. Starting with the Intel Core i5-12450HX, this 8-core CPU leverages Intel’s hybrid architecture to multitask at a speedy 4.4 GHz. The Intel Arc A530M discrete GPU has the full suite of Arc features we love, like support for Intel XeSS for faster framerates, ray tracing for realistic lighting, and AV1 video encoding to save your gaming highlights in tremendous quality.

To keep these chips from breaking a sweat, Lenovo’s hyperchamber cooling technology works hard to keep the heat out of the chassis and off of your hands. That’s not the only place Lenovo focused on building one tough notebook, since the 15” laptop is also built to MIL-STD 810H durability standards. Even with a budget-friendly design, several significant extras are built-in like RGB keyboard backlighting, a webcam with a built-in shutter, and a 165 Hz high refresh rate screen.

Putting games to the test

The best part about high refresh rate screens is running games fast enough to see a difference over a standard 60 Hz monitor. The Lenovo LOQ 15IAX9I shows off the synergy between its CPU, GPU, and screen in some of Intel’s favorite games:

We tested these games at 1080p High settings, meaning you can play with fantastic visual quality even in a portable and affordable laptop. Intel XeSS uses the power of AI to intelligently upscale games for more frames per second, built into the games above. Hogwarts Legacy goes from a playable 49 FPS to a super-smooth 72 FPS with XeSS on, and Hitman 3 more than doubles its framerate with XeSS!

Create faster than the rest

The Lenovo LOQ 15IAX9I is built to give you the most bang for your buck, so why stop at gaming? Like other Intel Arc graphics processors, this laptop’s Intel Arc A530M includes a comprehensive media engine with extensive support for all types of photo and video formats. For starters, it has full support for the AV1 video codec which saves space and bandwidth without compromising quality.

Without hardware AV1 support, you’re stuck using software to encode videos you’re exporting. We tested the difference by transcoding 4K 60 FPS footage on a 12th Gen Intel i5 laptop CPU, which ran at only 9 frames per second. By switching to the media encoder built into the Intel Arc A530M, that sped up the process nearly 15x, exporting at 131 FPS.

Intel Arc hardware does more than beat software – it beats out other GPUs too. It’s an average of 54% faster than the Nvidia RTX 3050 in the Adobe creative suite, and an average of 70% faster than the RTX 3050 in popular video editing applications. That means less time waiting for your projects to render, and more time focusing elsewhere.
