The latest in the helmet-hitting Madden NFL series touches down August 17^th on Steam with a playbook full of smarter moves on and off the field. On the field, new tackles have been added to update EA Tiburon’s FieldSENSE engine. New “Scoop” tackles are what I’ll try to set the carrier’s plans back a few yards — scoop him up, and bam! Big guys scoop best, and every tackle changes on-the-fly depending on who’s sizing off with whom. Size matters, but not every football player is built the same. The new SAPIEN character skeleton model makes up for this, adding animation rigging accuracy to match each unique player’s real-life movements.

Outside the stadium, mini games and the Superstar career mode return from earlier Madden NFL entries. Customize your own player to get noticed at the Scouting Combine: the first step in becoming the GOAT. Just want to hone your skills instead?  14 mini games challenge you to hoist the cup high in the leaderboards. Dynamic ball throws with Skill-Based Passing get updated too, so what better place to try that out than in the target smashing mini game? One more welcome update is the addition of cross-play, meaning you can join your friends’ teams, even if they aren’t basking in high FPS and ultrawide resolutions on PC.

Wayfinder

Twist fate further by siphoning power off fallen foes along the way to augment your abilities. If you want to emerge victorious, you’ll have to employ the powers of shadows, poison, swords… or simply shoot your enemies in the face with magical rifles.
